Anyone who has spent any time working with the Internet of Things is aware of just how quickly things can change. Many of us chose to get involved with IoT development specifically because of its tremendous potential to reshape virtually every aspect of our world, from the inventory in our warehouses to the thermostats in our homes.
As it turns out, the same thing can apply to the companies that develop IoT solutions. When we first founded Rivetry in early 2015, we fully expected to spend the next several years as a cutting-edge IoT design and development company. We had the talent, we had a unique perspective on IoT, and we quickly established some great partnerships with companies that complemented our offerings.
One of those partnerships turned out to be an especially good fit. In fact, it would have been hard to imagine a partner whose offerings were more complementary to our own.
Rigado is an engineering consulting firm based in Salem, Oregon. In the last several years, they have emerged as a leading provider of Bluetooth Low Energy modules and solutions, as well as turnkey IoT product development and manufacturing.
After collaborating with them on several projects and realizing how perfectly our areas of expertise fit together, we had a hard time coming up with a convincing reason why we should continue to operate as two separate companies. And so, in January 2016, Rivetry officially merged with Rigado.
The Internet of Things is still in its infancy, and we see a lot of great companies who specialize in solving a specific part of the puzzle. But as part of the new Rigado, we’re in the unique position of being able to provide complete, end-to-end solutions for IoT visionaries in any industry.
I am personally excited to see where this journey takes us. I couldn’t be prouder of the Rivetry team, or more grateful for the support that we have received from the Portland tech community and beyond. This is not the end of anything; it’s the start of something incredible.
